FASET

Overview

FASET is the new student orientation program where students receive academic advisement, register for first semester classes, and become familiarized with undergraduate curriculum, programs, and campus services. Traditionally, FASET takes place on campus over 2 days and accommodates parents and siblings. In-state students have the chance to have an earlier FASET, while out-of-state and international students have a FASET date closer to the start of the semester so they can stay on campus.

Q: What should I prepare for my FASET?

A: Ensure that all of your current test scores (AP, IB, SAT, ACT, A-levels, etc.) have been set to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Bring a copy of these scores with you as well. Ensure that all final and official high school and any college transcripts have been sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Bring an unofficial copy of these as well. Prepare a list of courses you would like to take, including plenty of backups. You may not get the classes that you want immediately, but there are still more chances for you to pick up those courses.

Q: What is a time ticket?

A: The specific time slot assigned to students during which they may register is referred to as a "time ticket." Students may view their assigned time ticket on the Web Student Access System. Students may access the "Add/Drop Classes" option only during their time ticket.

Q: What is the difference between all the registration phases?

A: There are a few waves of registration:

• Phase 1: For continuing students, they begin registration the semester prior in about March (for Fall) and October/November (for Spring). This is called Phase 1 Registration.
• FASET: occurs during the semester for transfers and new students. This is when you all will register for courses and have your orientation.
• Phase "AP": If your FASET session happens to take place before the AP scores reach GT, students are typically able to work with their advisors to get into classes based on how they think they did on the exam. Your time ticket will open up again after the AP scores are posted (if applicable), allowing you to select those classes whose pre-requisites are satisfied by the AP credit.
• Phase 2: It is the "last chance" registration phase that runs from about one week before classes until the Friday of the first week (this registration window overlaps with the first week). This first week is known as syllabus week and it's where you can see if you want to stay in the class depending on the syllabus, professor style, etc.
