Over the years, many Georgia Tech students have made guides to help the ones who follow in their footsteps. Here is a collection of some of those guides:

Code Projects

shoulditakethecredit.com/faq (2017-2019)

This guide is currently linked in the r/gatech sidebar as "GT FAQ". However, the website is defunct because the domain is expired. It used to be pretty funny; when incoming freshmen asked "should I take the credit from AP Calculus or should I re-take it at GT?!", redditors would post a link to shoulditakethecredit.com, which was a static webpage with a single word in bold: Yes.

The /faq section of the page, by contrast, had a much more helpful collection of information and advice, with topics ranging from dorms to registration.

The source code for this website is available on GitHub. It's a Jekyll static page generator that uses Markdown files for pages, and could easily be resurrected. Or, you can view the page files in this folder to see what they wrote.

GTNav Wiki (2012)

In 2012, a post to r/gatech wondered if there could be some FAQ of common questions that could be added to the sidebar. Hours later, GTNav was born. Created by u/haxxormaster (NRE major and r/gatech moderator), it was based on Mediawiki (like this wiki).

However, the wiki is now defunct. You can see what the front page looked like using this archive.org link. Blue-linked pages include topics such as Housing, FASET, Commuter tips, and more. Unfortunately, those pages don't seem to be archived.

GTNav serves as an example of both the ingenuity of GT students and of the importance of archiving information on the internet.
