Core Requirements
Core requirements include classes that are required by all majors to graduate. The exact classes required vary slightly depending on the major, but they will always consist of the categories listed below. In addition, 18 credits of undergraduate major requirements also count as core requirements. The specific requirements for each major can be found on its respective page.
Wellness Requirement[edit | edit source]
The wellness requirement can be met by getting a C or higher in one of the following 2 credit hour classes:
- APPH 1040 - Scientific Foundations of Health
- APPH 1050 - The Science of Physical Activity and Health

Fundamental Math Requirement[edit | edit source]
Humanities Requirement[edit | edit source]
Each major requires 6 credits of humanities courses in addition to ENGL 1101 and 1102. Humanities credits can also be earned by participating in music ensembles or certain undergraduate research courses, and the ethics requirement can also count for humanities credit. Recommended humanities courses include foreign languages, ID 2202, ID 2241 and 2242, and PHIL 2010.[Note 1]
Government/History Requirement[edit | edit source]
The government/history requirement can be met by getting a C or higher in one of the five following 3 credit classes:
- HIST 2111 - The US before 1877
- HIST 2112 - The US after 1877
- POL 1101 - Government of the US
- INTA 1200 - American Government in Comparative Perspective
- PUBP 3000 - American Constitutional Issues
